Shocking Footage Reveals Point Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant that leaped to the help of a colleague that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a blade to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist after a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman stabbed," the constable stated over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video made public by the police department revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.
He struck the officer who tripped and dropped to the street, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a clear shot, ending the struggle to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide something on my throat here, I got knifed in the neck."
Sgt Ansell received multiple lacerations to his throat and more injuries to his limbs and body, while Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.
The department stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's hemorrhaging before medical personnel arrived.
This most recent recognition arrives after the three officers won internal Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The responses of all three officers in the end protected one another and meant no civilians endured any harm."
Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, as stated by officials.
